‘Dump Here’: Big Dumper fan catches Cal Raleigh HR ball

Oct 7, 2025, 7:15 PM | Updated: 9:01 pm

The magical season of the Seattle Mariners and their slugging catcher Cal Raleigh just took things up a notch.

Instant Reaction: Mariners take 2-1 lead over Tigers in ALDS

Raleigh, also known by the nickname “Big Dumper,” ripped his first home run of the 2025 postseason on Tuesday night in Detroit. And it’s almost like he was aiming for the fan who caught the ball.

That’s because the fan was wearing a shirt that said “Dump Here” with the No. 61 on it – because Raleigh hit 60 home runs in the regular season, so his next would his 61st of 2025.

Here’s video of Raleigh’s opposite-field homer:

And here’s video of the fan catching the ball after it bounces up to him from the Mariners’ bullpen at Detroit’s Comerica Park:

OK, but here’s where the story really gets crazy.

After the fan caught the ball, they had one more move up his sleeve: another shirt underneath that looked the exact same, except it had the No. 62 on it.

Talk about being prepared – and lucky.

Raleigh’s two-run homer gave the Mariners’ an 8-1 lead, providing a little extra insurance in their eventual 8-4 victory. It was the second career postseason homer for the 2025 MLB home run leader, who also homered in his first career postseason at-bat in 2022 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Mariners cruise past Tigers 8-4 for 2-1 lead in ALDS

The Mariners now lead their American League Division Series with the Tigers two games to one. A win in either Game 4 Wednesday in Detroit or a potential Game 5 back in Seattle on Friday would advance Seattle to the AL Championship Series for the fourth time in franchise history and first time since 2001.

Wednesday’s Game 4 will either be played at 1:08 p.m. if the New York Yankees beat the Blue Jays on Tuesday night, or 4:08 p.m. if the Blue Jays win to sweep the other ALDS.
