A story caught my eye for a short look back feature in the pregame show Monday in Houston. It was 27 years ago on July 17 that a marquee matchup fully lived up to its billing: Bo Jackson with the Kansas City Royals on one side, Deion Sanders and the New York Yankees on the other.
It was the last time they would meet on a baseball field, and the game was epic. A story of interest in itself, but as I read further, I found there was a Mariners connection in that game as current pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr. played a key role, as well.
