College Football Insider: Will UW Huskies get Apple Cup replacement? It’s complicated

710 ESPN Seattle's Maura Dooley's latest College Football Insider video looks at the canceled Apple Cup and the UW Huskies' quest for an opponent this week.

SPONSORED – Thanksgiving weekend will feel incomplete this year as the Apple Cup has been canceled and is at risk of not being played for the first time since 1944.

It was announced Friday that WSU-Stanford was cancelled after multiple positive COVID tests within the WSU program. On Sunday, WSU athletic director Pat Chun reported that the team remains under the PAC-12 threshold of 53 scholarship players without any expectations for that to change by the end of this week, resulting in the Apple Cup, which was set for Friday in Pullman, being called off.

There is talk from both Chun and UW athletic director Jen Cohen wanting to work together in hopes of rescheduling the Apple Cup for a later date. In the meantime, UW is focused on finding a new opponent for this week – but it’s complicated.

In this week’s College Football Insider brought to you by Mac & Jack’s Brewing Company, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Maura Dooley breaks down the options that UW has in looking to push forward and play a game this week.
