Clayton’s Schooled: Covering Al Davis with Raiders reporter Steve Corkran

Longtime Raiders beat reporter Steve Corkran educates us about former Raiders owner Al Davis on the latest episode of Schooled With The Professor.

Corkran co-wrote the book “Al Davis: Behind the Raiders Shield,” which just came out this week. Cork tells us plenty of the inside stories about Davis’ successes and his failures. He goes into the selection of Marcus Allen in the draft, details the hiring of Jon Gruden as head coach and how Davis consulted his employees about trading Gruden to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Corkran also covers some of the struggles Davis had in his final years hiring coaches and shares some of the highlights over the course of Davis making the Raiders one of the best and most dominant franchises in the NFL.
