Clayton: UW’s Myles Gaskin could be part of another great RB draft class

As the Washington Huskies continue to rise in the national rankings, the same can be said for junior Myles Gaskin’s standing in the hierarchy of running backs in college football.

Gaskin’s 202-yard game against Colorado should enhance his draft status in what is becoming a great time for running backs both in college and the pros. The O’Dea High School product put up 1,300-yard seasons in his first two years with the Huskies and is projected as a third-round NFL Draft choice. Though he’s not the biggest back at 5 feet 9 and 191 pounds, he is tough and consistent.

Over the past couple of years, colleges are putting out great running backs – for example, Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon are off to great starts to their pro careers. The 2017 draft class has been outstanding, highlighted by Leonard Fornette, Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, Chris Carson and others.

Gaskin could be a part of another standout class in 2018. That is, if he decides to turn pro after the season.
