Gee Scott: Huskies have another big addition to OL coming in 2018
It has been very rare for the University of Arizona to not get top in-state prospects, so it was a coup for the Huskies to get offensive tackle Matteo Mele to verbally commit in June.
As of late, it has been very rare for the University of Arizona to not get top in-state prospects. So it was a coup for the Huskies that during offensive tackle Matteo Mele’s visit to the University of Washington in June, he decided to verbally commit.
Mele is a 6-feet-6, 275-pound offensive tackle from Salpointe Catholic in U of A’s backyard of Tucson, Ariz. He’s four-star recruit and the No. 6 rated tackle on the west coast.
If you look at what has been happening with Washington offensive linemen, in particular Trey Adams, you have to wonder if that played a part in Mele’s decision. Trey is a junior this year, but according to John Clayton, he is a possibility to be taken in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. That means Matteo could be a great fit for Washington’s offensive line very soon.
