Why Colin Cowherd is buying stock in the Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are continuing to make waves nationally after another blowout win.

The Seahawks have outscored their opponents 82-36 over the past two weeks, including 69-14 in the first half of those games. At 7-2, they’re tied for the best record in the NFC.

It’s been quite the start for a team that was mostly projected to win eight or nine games coming into the year.

One national voice that has been a believer in Seattle since before the season started is host of Fox Sports’ “The Herd” Colin Cowherd, who had the Seahawks ranked sixth in his power rankings entering the season.

Cowherd has continued to be impressed by the Seahawks throughout the year, ranking them second in his most recent power rankings. On Tuesday, he expressed why Seattle is a team to buy stock in during a conversation with Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk.

“I think the Seahawks have had the best drafts the last two years,” Cowherd said. “I think (general manager John) Schneider’s brilliant. I tell my audience all the time, turn the sound down and just lean into watching them play. It’s the fastest team in the league. I like everything about them. And I think it’s now John’s blueprint – his coach, his quarterback.”

The coach and quarterback combination the Seahawks have right now really stands out to Cowherd.

After leading one of the NFL’s top defenses in Baltimore, Mike Macdonald is 17-9 through his first 26 games as a head coach. He led Seattle to 10 wins last season while orchestrating a massive midseason defensive turnaround, and his shrewd personnel decisions have been at the center of his success.

Sam Darnold has been among the NFL’s most explosive and efficient passers this year. He leads the league with 14.0 yards per completion and 9.9 yards per attempt. He’s completed 71.1% of his throws for 2,262 yards and 17 touchdowns to six interceptions through nine games.

“It’s so great in the NFL when you can have your quarterback and your head coach and they’re both pretty young, they’re both in their prime,” Cowherd said. “It’s such a great place to be in the NFL, and there’s about seven of those (teams) in the whole league.”

“I think they’re in a five- or six-team group that for the next five years is an absolute buy,” Cowherd added.
