The Mariners have dealt with more than their fair share of injuries this season. On Friday, the biggest blow yet was delivered.

James Paxton, who had emerged as a Cy Young Award candidate over the last month, has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left pectoral strain, an injury that forced him out of his start Thursday.

Mariners manager Scott Servais said Paxton is expected to be out around three weeks.

Andrew Moore has been called up from Triple-A Tacoma to take Paxton’s roster spot. Though Moore is typically a starter, Servais said he will be in the bullpen.

Without Paxton, who had earned the win in seven straight starts before receiving a no-decision in Thursday’s 6-3 loss to the Angels, Seattle’s starting rotation is now made up of Ariel Miranda, Yovani Gallardo, Erasmo Ramirez, Marco Gonzales and a pitcher to be determined. Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma are also currently on the disabled list.
