Seahawks sign LB/FB Kyle Coleman after waiving CB Jamal Marshall

The Seahawks had an opening on their 90-man offseason roster after waiving rookie cornerback Jamal Marshall on Wednesday. They filled it Thursday by signing linebacker/fullback Kyle Coleman, who took part in the team’s rookie minicamp last month on a tryout basis.

Coleman finished his college career last season at Arkansas-Pine Bluff – where he played for his father, Monte Coleman – after transferring from Arkansas State. His bio on the UAPB website lists him at 6 feet 2 and 220 pounds.

The Seahawks’ press release lists Coleman as a linebacker but notes that he played fullback during rookie minicamp. So it would appear that the Seahawks are still considering him a possibility at fullback as they continue to look at a handful of undrafted rookies to fill that position. The other fullbacks on Seattle’s roster are Brandin Bryant and former Husky Taniela Topou, who are also converted defensive players.
