Seahawks’ Brandon Browner won’t face battery charge

Seahawks defensive back Brandon Browner won’t be charged with battery in connection with an altercation last month in Pomona, Calif., a spokesperson with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to 710Sports.com on Wednesday.

Browner was under investigation after it was alleged that he struck the father of his girlfriend during a July 5 altercation outside Browner’s home. A spokesperson with the Pomona Police department said the next day that Browner left the scene before police arrived. He was never arrested.

Citing court documents, TMZ Sports reported Wednesday that the investigation hit a snag when police weren’t able to locate or interview Browner and when witnesses “suddenly became uncooperative.”

The district-attorney spokesperson would only say that there was “insufficient evidence” for a battery charge.

Browner, 32, returned to the Seahawks this offseason on a one-year deal and is learning to play strong safety, a different role from when he started at cornerback for Seattle from 2011-13.
