The Mariners made a number of roster moves Tuesday afternoon before their game in Peoria against the Angels.

Drayer: After making spring debut, Taijuan Walker feels ‘normal again’

Here’s a look at who’s heading where:

Optioned to Triple-A Tacoma

OF Braden Bishop
LHP Nick Margevicius

Re-Assigned to Mariners minor league camp

OF Rymer Liriano
OF Julio Rodriguez
C Joseph Odom
C Joe Hudson
LHP Manny Banuelos

Bishop’s name on the list might be the one surprise for some. While it appeared entering camp that he would have a shot at a bench spot as a fourth outfielder, as camp has progressed it became clear that it wasn’t set in stone that the Mariners would elect to go with a fourth outfielder on the bench. Carlos González remains a candidate for that job although comments made by Mariners manager Scott Servais on Monday morning seemed to indicate that there was no clear commitment in that direction. Servais has also expressed confidence in a number of Seattle’s utility candidates to play in the outfield if needed, and it might not be needed too often if the intent is to see what Kyle Lewis and Jake Fraley (if he wins the job) can do.

Another move was announced as Jose Siri, who had been optioned earlier in the week, was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants. This opens up a spot on the 40-man roster, which could be for a player already in camp. Joey Gerber has been impressing and comes to mind as a possibility, or the Mariners could make a late spring pickup as many players are expected to become available just days before the season begins.

With the moves, the spring roster is now at 51.

Lineup!

Jake Fraley, CF
Dylan Moore, SS
Kyle Seager, 3B
Carlos González, RF
Tom Murphy, C
Jose Marmolejos, DH
Dee Gordon, 2B
Jarred Kelenic, LF
Patrick Wisdom, 1B

Logan Gilbert, RHP

Gilbert is scheduled to throw two innings. There is a chance he could go three if he is very economical with his pitches but the Mariners are trying to bring him up slowly as the minor league spring schedule won’t get started for some time.

Also scheduled to pitch are Gerson Bautista, Sam Delaplane, Carl Edwards Jr., Erik Swanson and Anthony Misiewicz.

Mariners notes

• Erik Swanson was scheduled to pitch Monday in Maryvale but was held out of that game because of a root canal he had in recent days.

• The Mariners held a B game on Field 2 earlier Tuesday. Yusei Kikuchi threw four innings, giving up two hits and one walk and striking out seven.
