To celebrate the first of his two touchdowns Sunday, Tyler Lockett paid tribute injured teammate and fellow Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette.

After catching a 24-yard scoring pass on the first possession of Seattle’s win over San Francisco, Lockett wiped away at two imaginary sleeves and fixed a fictional tie as he walked out the back of the end zone. It was an homage to the other Lockette, who will miss the rest of the season after suffering a scary neck injury three weeks ago.

“It was a tribute to Lock,” the rookie Lockett said on the postgame show on 710 ESPN Seattle. “Lock always did that celebration and I threw up the ‘L’ for him as well.”

The “L” stands for both “Legion of Boom” and “Love Our Brothers,” and it’s the same sign Lockette made while being carted off the field in Dallas.

Following a 2014 win over Denver, Lockette described how he punctuates his scores with business-like flair.

“I wipe my sleeves off, I fix my tie and I leave the field with my briefcase just like you leave the office,” he said. “Just another day at the office.”

Lockett switched his celebration after carrying defenders into the end zone in the second quarter, hopping up and running into an official, spinning away and whipping his right arm in the air, then punching with his left. That was followed by a formal handshake with offensive lineman Justin Britt.

They weren’t the moves that he’d planned.

“I didn’t even know how it happened or how I did (made it to the end zone),” he said. “I was just so hype that I couldn’t even do any of the celebrations that I wanted to do before the game.”
