Steve Raible reflects on Seahawks D, QB’s

As the Seahawks gear up for Saturday’s second preseason game, play by play man Steve Raible likes what he’s seen so far.

In an interview on the inaugural edition of “The Huddle” on Bob and Groz, Raible was particularly enthusiastic about Seattle’s defense.

“I am pleased, in an understated way, at how good this defense is already and how good it can be, how fast they are how big they are up front.”

Raible gives high marks to linebacker Bobby Wagner, a player he predicts will have a long career in Seattle, along with the showing of the secondary.

“That to me is the best part of what I have seen out here at practice everyday,” Raible says. “They’re going to be fun to watch.”

But Raible says he’s surprised by the early showing of the offense as well, especially the running game. He likes what he sees out of both quarterbacks Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson.

“I like them both. Russell Wilson is an incredible athlete. Maybe even better than that he’s an incredible person,” Raible says.

“He is so smart, he is so experienced, he has seen so much, he knows exactly what questions to answer and how to answer them. He knows how to deal with his teammates in the locker room.”

Raible says he’s a bit surprised at how understated Flynn has been so far, but likes his approach.

“He thinks of himself as a better game day player than practice player,” Raible says of Flynn. And the former receiver says that’s a good thing.

“Play well, be a good manager of your team, throw the ball with accuracy and you can’t get into too much trouble. Get crazy, do things you’re not capable of doing, and you get yourself in trouble. And I don’t think Matt Flynn is that guy.”
