The Mariners have two extra right-handed hitters in the lineup to start their four-game series against the Astros at 7:10 p.m. Monday night on 710 ESPN Seattle.

Table Setter: Astros pose tough early test for Mariners

Guillermo Heredia, who owns a .289 average and .747 career on-base plus slugging percentage against lefty pitching, will be in left field with Houston starting southpaw Dallas Keuchel. Taylor Motter, another right-handed hitter, will be at first base for Seattle.

David Freitas will do the catching with Mike Zunino still at least a few days away from returning from the disabled list.

The Mariners will turn to a lefty of their own to pitch: James Paxton, who tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts over six innings in his last outing.

Astros are somehow better than in World Series-winning 2017 season

Mariners-Astros coverage begins at 6 p.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show.
