One pitch.

That’s all Nelson Cruz needed to see to hit the first home run of the 2018 Mariners season.

Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto: ‘We like where we stand’

The Mariners’ All-Star designated hitter ripped the first offering he saw from reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber, depositing a two-run homer past the wall in center field at Safeco Field in the first inning Thursday night.

The home run traveled 412 feet and was hit at a speed of 111 mph, according to Statcast.

Cruz now has 302 home runs since the start of the 2009 season, which leads the MLB, according to the MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

In a separate video shared on by the Mariners’ Twitter account, you can get an up-close look at what happens to a ball when Cruz connects on a homer.
