The lineups are ready for opening night in Seattle, just the second time in the past decade the Mariners have started the season at home.

Manager Scott Servais has Dee Gordon and Jean Segura batting 1-2 in front of the Mariners’ veteran trio of sluggers – Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager. And for the first time since 2012, Ichiro Suzuki will be in the outfield for the M’s.

Opening night not just another game for Ichiro

On the mound it will be 2010 American League Cy Young Award winner Felix Hernandez matched up against two-time AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber for Cleveland. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Kluber edged out Felix for the 2014 award.

In an update from Seattle’s initial lineup, Mike Marjama will get the start at catcher in his first MLB opening day after Mike Zunino was scratched. Zunino experienced stiffness on his right side in batting practice Wednesday, reports 710 ESPN Seattle’s Shannon Drayer.

The Indians’ lineup includes their new first baseman Yonder Alonso hitting cleanup. Alonso spent the final two months of the 2017 season with Seattle.

Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show at 6 p.m. followed by first pitch at 7:10.
