The plans to give Eddie Lacy most of the work as Seattle’s running back didn’t hold up on Sunday.

Specifically, Lacy didn’t hold up.

He left the Seahawks’ game against Washington after suffering a strained groin in the second quarter, meaning Thomas Rawls stepped in to carry the ball nine times for 39 yards, an average of 4.3 yards per carry.

Bobby Wagner a bright spot in Seahawks’ loss

“I’m just always on the sideline, ready and prepared,” Rawls said. “I felt like I contributed as much as I could today and as long as the season is going, I’ll just be ready.”

Lacy gained 20 yards on his six carries, the lowest rush average of the four players who carried the ball. Quarterback Russell Wilson finished as the team’s leading rusher for the second consecutive game.

Lacy’s status for this week’s game will be very much in doubt especially since the Seahawks have only three days between games. C.J. Prosise, who has missed the past two games with an ankle injury, should be ready to play in Arizona, however. Coach Pete Carroll told “Brock and Salk” on Monday morning that Prosise would be ready to play.

The injury to Lacy was disappointing to coach Pete Carroll, who was hoping to see if Lacy would be able to become more effective if he got more work.

“It was unfortunate,” Carroll said, “because you could kind of tell later in the week I was anxious to see how that looked. We just didn’t get a chance to find out.”
