As of late, it has been very rare for the University of Arizona to not get top in-state prospects. So it was a coup for the Huskies that during offensive tackle Matteo Mele’s visit to the University of Washington in June, he decided to verbally commit.

Mele is a 6-feet-6, 275-pound offensive tackle from Salpointe Catholic in U of A’s backyard of Tucson, Ariz. He’s four-star recruit and the No. 6 rated tackle on the west coast.

If you look at what has been happening with Washington offensive linemen, in particular Trey Adams, you have to wonder if that played a part in Mele’s decision. Trey is a junior this year, but according to John Clayton, he is a possibility to be taken in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. That means Matteo could be a great fit for Washington’s offensive line very soon.
