Turns out K.J. Wright was a pioneer when he underwent a treatment on his knee earlier this month.

Pete Carroll referred to the treatment as a process, which sounded very mysterious. Turns out it was something called Regenokine, which involves heating a patient’s blood and then isolating a serum that helps treat the pain.

Wright was the first Seahawk to undergo the treatment this year, and he was followed by D.J. Alexander.

O’Neil: What we’re still trying to figure out about Seahawks

This week, Luke Joeckel, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Tyler Lockett and Michael Wilhoite are all traveling to receive the treatment, a constituency big enough to prompt a change in nomenclature from the coach.

“We have a few guys that have entered the circle,” Carroll said. “That’s what I’m calling it now instead of the process. They’ve entered the circle and they’ll be gone this week to do their stuff and then they’ll meet us in Oakland.”

The Seahawks play their final preseason game on Thursday in Oakland, a game in which the starters are expected to play sparingly if at all.

Carroll was asked if he’s worried about the availability of the players when the regular season opens in Green Bay on Sept. 10.

“No,” Carroll said. “We’re doing it all to make sure that they’re strong going into the start of the season.”
