The Mariners will reportedly sign relief pitcher Mark Lowe, who was released by the Detroit Tigers earlier this week, according to ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick.

The 33-year-old right-hander and 11-year MLB veteran will likely be added on a minor-league deal, much like he was in 2015, when he staged a remarkable comeback with the Mariners following multiple seasons riddled with injuries and poor performance.

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez: “I’m not done; I’m still The King”

This would be the third stint with Seattle for Lowe, who began his career with the Mariners in 2006. He remained with the team until going to Texas in the trade that sent Cliff Lee to the Rangers and Justin Smoak to Seattle. Returning to the M’s in 2015 after stops with the Angels, Nationals, Rays and Indians, he had a 1.00 ERA in 34 games for Seattle until it traded him to Toronto for three prospects. He continued to pitch well with the Blue Jays, leading to him signing a two-year, $11 million contract with Detroit. He struggled with the Tigers, however, ending up with a 7.11 ERA in 54 games last season.

After putting up a 5.19 ERA in 8 2/3 innings of work this spring, Detroit cut him loose despite still owing him $5.5 million.
