Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman held a brief press conference following Seattle’s wild-card win over Detroit, notable only because he said last week that he wasn’t speaking with local media members.
A jovial Sherman gave an opening statement then answered six questions before thanking the assembled media members and walking away.
“This was a great game today,” Sherman said. “We were very, very effective offensively. I think Doug Baldwin played a great game. I think he deserves a lot of credit. But what year doesn’t he play great in the playoffs? I think he deserves a lot of credit. I think Thomas Rawls deserves a ton of credit for the game he played today, obviously. Our D-line played incredible. Bobby Wagner, MVP candidate. He deserves to get that; let’s hope they give it to him this year. That’s all I got.”

Sherman then turned to ESPN’s Ed Werder to ask him if he had a question. Sherman said last week that Werder was one of the only reporters he would speak to. He then did the same thing to 710 ESPN Seattle’s Liz Mathews.
Here are Sherman’s responses to the six questions he was asked:
(On whether he’ll be talking at all throughout the playoffs) “We’ll make that decision. I’ll go between social media and things like that.”
(On which social media sites) “Twitter, my website, RichardSherman25.com. You can check it out. Don’t be afraid to buy something while you’re there.”
(On Doug Baldwin’s route running) “Doug is an incredible route runner. He’s probably one of the most adept route runners out there. He runs them at the proper depth, he makes the plays that are there, he makes the tough catches, he even catches with his butt sometimes. There’s nothing he can’t do. That’s why they pay him the big bucks.”
(On if this was the way the Seahawks like to play) “This felt like old times. This felt great. The offense controlled the game with the run game and huge plays, explosive plays in the pass game. On defense we kept them out of the end zone and it felt right and it felt correct. We get (C.J.) Prosise back next week hopefully and it’ll be great. It’ll be a lot of fun.”
(On how much it helps having played the Falcons and if the Seahawks have to look at Atlanta as an entirely new team) “No, no it helps us a ton. We understand them, we understand what they like to do. Obviously, they have an incredible dynamic offense, a ton of playmakers. We’re looking forward to the challenge. I think we felt like we gave them a couple in the game we played them previously, mental errors, miscommunications, etc. in the third quarter. We look forward to going back and it being a great ballgame.”
(On if he’s glad Devin Hester took over as Seattle’s punt returner) “See, everybody was on me about the punt returns. Then he comes in there, the legend comes in there and fair-catches and nobody says anything. I’m starting to think it was a little bias there. But I tried my best to get my spot back; they didn’t give it to me. But I appreciate you guys. You guys have a beautiful day.”
