The controversy surrounding Richard Sherman has lasted another day, but Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was aiming for it to end once and for all on Thursday.

Meeting with the media after Seattle’s final practice before its game Saturday against Arizona, Carroll did his best to convey that the issue stemming from Sherman’s criticism of Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s play-calling has been dealt with internally. But perhaps the most telling comment from Carroll was that he wasn’t exactly pleased with Sherman’s attempt at an apology.

“I thought he would (apologize) more than he did. That’s all I can say,” Carroll said. “… We’re done with it right now. We’ve already taken care of it. Whatever we do, we do it inside internally and it’s been taken care of.”

Sherman first voiced his displeasure during last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams when he confronted Carroll and Bevell on the sideline after the Seahawks called a passing play from the Rams’ 1-yard line. He elaborated on his displeasure with Seattle throwing from the 1 after the game, and he stood by his comments during a particularly contentious press conference on Tuesday.

Carroll said he was “a little surprised” at how things turned out with Sherman’s press conference, which made news for an exchange the Pro Bowl cornerback had with 710 ESPN Seattle’s Jim Moore.

“I just think that, like he said, you guys got after him pretty good and it got to him a little bit. He didn’t really get everything out that he maybe wanted to get out, in the way he wanted to. We’ve been together throughout the week to make sure that everything is in the right place for us,” Carroll said. “We’re fine here and I was really proud of Jim Moore for the way he expressed it and put it out there. I think these are learning experiences, these are opportunities. We don’t do things right all the time, we make mistakes and we go too far and we have to correct, and that’s what we do around here.”
