Zach Scott announces intention to retire after 15 years with Sounders

Longtime Sounders defender Zach Scott announced through the club on Thursday that he intends to retire at the end of the 2016 season after a 15-year career with the organization. Scott has made 347 appearances for the Sounders over his career, at both the USL and MLS levels. Since joining the Sounders, Scott has won seven trophies: two USL league titles, four US Open Cups and the 2014 MLS Supporters’ Shield.

Scott said this about his decision to retire:

“The time has come for me to turn the page on my soccer career and start a new chapter of my life,” Scott said. “When I signed with the USL Sounders in 2002, I never imagined that I would have a professional career that lasted 15 years, and it’s been a rare blessing to have played in the same city the entire time. That said, I have much more to offer in this life and I couldn’t be more excited to see what’s next.”
