Seahawks QB Sam Darnold has ‘chance’ to return this week

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald was asked about several injured players on Monday during his weekly appearance on Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk.

Below is a recap of what he said.

• Macdonald said “there is a chance” quarterback Sam Darnold could return for Sunday’s Week 3 road matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Darnold has been sidelined since suffering a glute injury on the opening series in Week 1. Macdonald said the Seahawks are taking it day by day, with Wednesday’s practice being the next benchmark.

“He’s gonna do his work today, and then I think we’ll see Wednesday,” Macdonald said.

• Macdonald clarified that rookie running back Jadarian Price is dealing with a shoulder issue. When Price exited in the second half of Seattle’s win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, it was announced as a chest injury. Macdonald said after the game that X-rays came back negative.

“It’s some technical term for somewhere up in your shoulder,” Macdonald said. “But it’s intact and nothing serious, it doesn’t seem like.”

• Macdonald is unsure about right guard Anthony Bradford‘s status for this week. Bradford missed Sunday’s game in Arizona after being downgraded from questionable to out on Saturday due to knee and hip injuries.

Bradford was already listed with a knee injury before the hip designation was added to Thursday’s practice report. He was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but didn’t practice Friday and stayed back in the Seattle area to rehab over the weekend.

“Unfortunately he had a setback in practice, so we’re getting the returns on how well this weekend (went),” Macdonald said. “It’s one of the reasons we kept him back, so we could really attack his rehab.”
