Safety D’Anthony Bell returns to Seahawks on practice squad

Veteran safety D’Anthony Bell is returning to the Seattle Seahawks as a member of the practice squad, the team announced Saturday.

The 29-year-old Bell spent most of the 2025 season with the Seahawks. He appeared in 14 games, making two starts, while totaling 15 tackles and one tackle for loss. The Carolina Panthers claimed Bell off waivers on Dec. 31, 2025 and a appeared in Carolina’s playoff game the Panthers waived him Jan. 14.

Bell re-signed with the Seahawks on a one-year deal in March but was released last Sunday when rosters were cut down to 53 players.

Bell adds safety depth for a Seahawks team that lost rookie Bud Clark, a second-round pick, to for the season to a broken ankle in the preseason. The status of standout second-year safety Nick Emmanwori for Wednesday’s season opener against the New England Patriots is also uncertain. Head coach Mike Macdonald declined to answer injury questions during his press conference Saturday, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson.

Bell, a West Florida product, has six tackles for loss, four passes defended and two interceptions over 64 career games in four NFL seasons with the Seahawks, Panthers and Cleveland Browns.

Outside linebacker Marvin Jones Jr. was released to make room on the practice squad for Bell.
