Report: Seahawks sign 2-time Pro Bowl CB Trevon Diggs to practice squad

In an expected move, the Seattle Seahawks signed former two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs to their practice squad on Monday morning, according to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Diggs was released during the Seahawks’ 53-man roster cutdown on Sunday, but general manager John Schneider said the team planned to keep the 27-year-old cornerback in the fold.

As a vested veteran, Diggs wasn’t subject to waivers. That made him free to sign with any team following Monday’s 10 a.m. waiver-claim deadline.

Diggs, a Pro Bowler with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 and 2022, is looking to resurrect a once-promising career that’s been derailed by knee injuries. He initially signed a one-year, minimum salary contract with Seattle on Aug. 19 and came up with an interception in the Seahawks’ preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night.

“He’s kind of just getting going, just getting ramped up, as you saw the other night,” Schneider said after Sunday’s roster cutdown. “He’s just getting his legs under him, but he’s confident, and we’re excited to get him going and see how far he can take this thing.

“He’s really bought into the culture of the guys, and the staff, … so it’s been pretty cool to see. He’s a great guy, too.”

Diggs, a 2020 second-round pick by Dallas, totaled 17 interceptions and 49 pass breakups over his first three seasons with the Cowboys.

The Alabama product was a first-team All-Pro in 2021, when he recorded a league-high 11 interceptions, two pick-sixes and 21 pass breakups. He remains the only NFL player since 1981 with at least 11 interceptions in a season.

However, Diggs has appeared in just 22 games over the past three seasons. He was limited to just two games in 2023 after suffering a torn ACL. He also underwent season-ending knee surgery in December 2024 and another knee procedure in January 2025.

Diggs didn’t record an interception or pass breakup over a combined nine games with the Cowboys and Green Bay Packers last season. He was waived by Dallas on Dec. 30, 2025, and claimed by the Packers, who released him after their wild-card playoff loss.
