Bump: Undrafted Seahawks rookie edge rusher is one to watch

The Seattle Seahawks already have several developmental edge rushers in Connor O’Toole, Jared Ivey and Jamie Sheriff who are expected to vie for roster spots and snaps this fall.

During a recent Four Down Territory segment on Seattle Sports’ Bump and Stacy, former NFL wide receiver Michael Bumpus highlighted Oklahoma edge rusher Marvin Jones Jr. as an undrafted Seahawks rookie to keep an eye on.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Jones, who signed with Seattle shortly after last month’s NFL Draft, totaled 8.0 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles over his four-year college career at Georgia, Florida State and Oklahoma. As a senior in 2025, he had 2.0 sacks and five tackles for loss in 13 games for the Sooners.

“Deceptive closing speed,” Bumpus said. “I was looking at him and his first two steps are big, and then all of a sudden he jumps on (you). It’s like when you see a cat that’s slowly stalking something, and then boom, it jumps on them. That’s what he looks like. Good pad level for a guy that’s 6-5, and good eye discipline.”

Jones figures to have a steep path to cracking the Seahawks’ roster. Seattle already has an established four-man edge rushing corps in DeMarcus Lawrence, Uchenna Nwosu, Derick Hall and recent free addition addition Dante Fowler Jr., plus the trio of O’Toole, Ivey and Sheriff.

“He’s a bit raw,” Bumpus said. “I can see the rawness in his game, but for the most part, he’s a big body that caused a lot of (havoc) in the backfield for Oklahoma. So, just a name to look at.”
