2026 NHL Draft Lottery: Seattle Kraken find out their top pick

The 2026 NHL Draft picks for the Seattle Kraken are officially set.

The Kraken were given the No. 7 overall pick next month with Tuesday’s NHL Draft lottery. They also have the No. 26 overall selection, which was acquired in a trade with Tampa Bay.

The Toronto Maple Leafs landed the No. 1 overall selection, while the No. 2 pick went to the San Jose Sharks.

The NHL uses a lottery system to determine the first two picks in the draft, after which the remaining picks go in order of the worst records from the previous regular season. The Kraken actually fell a spot due to the Sharks moving ahead of them thanks to the lottery.

The 2026 NHL Draft will take place June 26-27 in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Kraken had the eight-best odds with a 7.5% chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick. They finished sixth in the Pacific Division in 2025-26 with a 34-37-11 record and missed the playoffs for a third straight season.

The Kraken picked No. 8 overall in each of the previous two seasons. Their highest draft pick ever was No. 2, which was in 2021 when they selected Matty Beniers ahead of their inaugural season.

Seattle has two first-round picks both this year and next year thanks to their 2025 trade that sent Oliver Bjorkstrand to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
