Seahawks WR changes positions, could become tallest NFL CB ever

But the Seahawks’ current Dark Side defense is looking to one-up the LOB.

The Seahawks were trailblazers over a decade ago when they started using cornerbacks that were on the tall side, with Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner both earning Pro Bowl nods and helping lead Seattle to its first Super Bowl title. Browner, who at 6 foot 4 was an inch taller than Sherman, actually tied as the tallest cornerback ever to play in the NFL.
Tyrone Broden is looking to take that distinction all to himself in 2026, though.
Last season, Broden was a member of the Seahawks’ practice squad as an undrafted rookie – on offense. Like Sherman initially was, Broden was a wide receiver in college (he played at Bowling Green and Arkansas). But this week, the Seahawks announced that Broden is switching positions to cornerback.
The 25-year-old Broden is listed at 6-5 by the Seahawks, which means that if he plays himself into a spot on the roster and appears in an NFL game, he would be the tallest cornerback ever in league history.
Perhaps the Seahawks are looking at Broden to help fill a hole left by Riq Woolen, the 6-4 corner who went to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency in March. Woolen was one of just two 6-4 cornerbacks in the league last season.
Seattle is lacking a bit in height at the position going into 2026. Draft picks Julian Neal (6-2) and Andre Fuller (6-1) are the only cornerbacks on the roster besides Broden listed as taller than 6 feet.
