Seattle Storm sign 2 free agents, including former All-Star center Dolson

The Seattle Storm added to their free agency class by signing 12-year WNBA veteran and two-time All-Star center Stefanie Dolson, the team announced Sunday.

Dolson, 34, was an All-Star with the Washington Mystics in 2015 and 2017 and won a WNBA title with the Chicago Sky in 2021. The 6-foot-5 Dolson spent last season with the Mystics, averaging 3.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while logging 15.2 minutes per contest. She has a career 3-point shooting percentage of 40.2%.

“Stef brings a championship pedigree and a veteran presence that aligns with our culture and our direction,” Storm general manager Talisa Rhea said in a press release. “She’s the kind of player who elevates a locker room through her professionalism, consistency and approach to the game. Her versatility adds real value to our roster, and we’re excited for Stef to step into this group and be part of what we’re continuing to build here.”

The Storm also announced the signing of 23-year-old Australian point guard Jade Melbourne.

Melbourne was a third-round draft pick by the Storm in 2022 and later signed with the team in 2023. During her previous stint in Seattle in 2023, she averaged 2.6 points and 1.2 assists per game. The Storm traded Melbourne to the Mystics in May 2024 for a third-round draft pick.

Last season, the 5-foot-10 Melbourne averaged 5.9 points and 2.9 assists per game while logging 23.4 minutes per contest.

Melbourne was named FIBA’s 2024 Rising Star of the Paris Olympics, where she was the starting point guard for Australia’s bronze-medal team.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jade back to Seattle,” Rhea said in a release. “She’s a young, dynamic playmaker with a high basketball IQ who can impact the game in multiple ways. Jade’s growth and experience in international competition continue to elevate her game, and we’re excited for the energy she’ll bring to our team this season.”
