Seahawks re-sign right guard Phil Haynes to 1-year contract for 2023

The Seahawks have made their first signing of the offseason, keeping a pending free agent in Seattle.

No, it’s not Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith, but it is someone who blocked for him last season.
That would be guard Phil Haynes, who played 15 games at right guard for the Seahawks in 2022. The team announced Tuesday afternoon that it had agreed to a one-year deal with Haynes, who is 27 years old.

Haynes was a fourth-round pick in 2019 who didn’t play as a rookie until the playoffs due to injury. He then played in just seven games between 2020 and 2021 before breaking out for the Seahawks in 2022.
In 2022, Haynes played in 15 games and started just three, but he played 51% of Seattle’s offensive snaps as he rotated with veteran starter Gabe Jackson at right guard.
Seattle is now set to return starters at four positions on the offensive line in rookie tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas as well as left guard Damien Lewis along with Haynes and Jackson at right guard. Starting center Austin Blythe is a pending unrestricted free agent after starting every game for Seattle last season.
