SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) — Uruguay’s Alvaro Fernandez scored on a 10-yard header in the 74th minute to lift the Seattle Sounders to a 1-1 draw Tuesday with Metapan and earn a place in the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League.

The MLS team won the first leg at home 1-0 and advanced from the qualifying stage on a 2-1 aggregate.

The match was played in continuous rain with the field badly cut up and muddy at the end
