The Mariners’ four-game series in Baltimore will be a pair of doubleheaders played two days apart.

Mariners’ heroics in late innings work only once as they split DH with O’s

Wednesday’s game between the two teams scheduled for 4:05 p.m. has officially been postponed due to rain, as was also the case for the series opener Monday. The Mariners and Orioles were able to get a doubleheader in Tuesday, with Seattle winning the first game 4-3 in extra innings and Baltimore walking off in Game 2 for a 7-6 victory.

Thursday’s doubleheader will begin at 9:35 a.m., with the pregame show at 8:30 starting coverage on 710 ESPN Seattle. The Jerry Dipoto Show with the Mariners general manager will also air on Danny and Gallant with a special start time of 8:15 a.m. (it usually airs each Thursday morning at 8:30).

Like Tuesday’s twinbill, the doubleheader will consist of two seven-inning games, as has been the rule in MLB during the pandemic.

Seattle’s scheduled starters for the doubleheader are Marco Gonzales, who was Thursday’s original starter, in Game 1, followed by Justin Dunn, Wednesday’s original starter, in the nightcap. Matt Harvey, who was set to pitch Wednesday for Baltimore, will battle Gonzales in the opener, while left-hander Bruce Zimmerman will get the ball for the O’s in Game 2.

While Monday’s scheduled game wasn’t postponed until roughly 90 minutes into a rain delay, Thursday’s game was called off about 90 minutes before first pitch due to a forecast of heavy rain the rest of the night in the Baltimore area.

The Mariners will take a 6-5 record into the doubleheader following Tuesday’s split, while the Orioles sit at 5-6.
