Mariners-Orioles to play doubleheader Tuesday as series opener rained out

Apr 12, 2021, 6:12 PM

The Mariners will have to wait a day to try to turn their back-to-back wins in Minnesota into a winning streak.

Sunday: Mariners rally from 6 down to beat Twins 8-6

Seattle’s series opener in Baltimore was rained out Monday evening following a delay of roughly 90 minutes. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Tuesday set for a 1:05 p.m. start time.

As per MLB rules this season, the doubleheader will consist of two seven-inning games.

Justus Sheffield, the Mariners’ scheduled starter for Monday’s postponed game, will start Game 1 for Seattle. Nick Margevicius will get the ball for the M’s in the nightcap.

Baltimore’s scheduled starter for Monday was Dean Kremer, with All-Star left-hander John Means set to be Tuesday’s starter.

Seattle is 5-4 on the young season after beating the Twins 4-3 in extra innings Saturday and coming back from a six-run deficit for an 8-6 victory Sunday.

Baltimore is 4-5 and coming off a three-game series where they were swept by the Boston Red Sox.

Coverage of the Mariners’ doubleheader will begin on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show at noon Tuesday.
