Spoiler alert: the Denver Broncos will defeat the Seahawks in overtime Super Bowl XLVII – at least if the Madden NFL 25 video game is to believed.

EA Sports has just released its annual Super Bowl simulation, predicting a thrilling 31-28 Broncos victory in overtime in a snow covered MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

It would be easy to dismiss the prediction out of hand. But the video game has been surprisingly accurate over the past decade, going 8-2 in Super Bowl predictions.

Last year, the game correctly picked Baltimore to knock off the 49ers and Joe Flacco as MVP. The year before, the game uncannily predicted the Giants would win and missed the spread by just one point. The Giants knocked off New England 21-17, while Madden predicted a 21-17 Giants win, Yahoo Sports reports.

In this year’s Super Bowl simulation, which was run on the Xbox One version of Madden NFL 25, the Seahawks take a 10-7 halftime lead after Richard Sherman runs an interception back for a touchdown. But Denver roars back in the second half to take a 21-10 lead before a Marshawn Lynch 27-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion ties the game and sends it into overtime.

The Broncos ultimately prevail in the simulation when kicker Matt Prater nails a 48-yard field goal to win the game and crush the hopes of the 12th Man.
