The WSU Cougars will finish up their 2019 football season in the Cheez-It Bowl.
UW Huskies to face Boise State in Las Vegas Bowl
Washington State will meet Air Force on Friday, Dec. 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix, home of the MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks, in the second-ever Cheez-It Bowl. The game was previously known as the Cactus Bowl, Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, Insight Bowl and Copper Bowl.
This will be WSU’s second appearance in this bowl series. The Cougars beat Utah 31-28 behind quarterback Drew Bledsoe’s Cooper Bowl Offensive MVP performance in 1992 at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.

This year will feature a somewhat ironic matchup. Washington State is known for head coach Mike Leach’s pass-heavy Air Raid offense, with quarterback Anthony Gordon leading the nation in passing. Air Force, meanwhile, is a run-first team that ranks third in the nation in rushing, averaging 292.5 yards on the ground.
WSU enters the Cheez-It Bowl with a 6-6 overall record. The Cougars were 3-6 in PAC-12 play this year.
The Falcons are 10-2 overall and were second in the Mountain West Conference’s Mountain Division with a 7-1 record. They are ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Cheez-It Bowl will air on 710 ESPN Seattle, with Matt Chazanow, Alex Brink and Jessamyn McIntyre heading up the Washington State Radio Network broadcast. The game is set for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff on Dec. 27.
