RENTON – Injured wide receiver Ricardo Lockette was in the Seahawks’ locker room Thursday, talking and joking with teammates while still wearing a brace on his surgically-repaired neck.

In an informal conversation with the media, Lockette said he’s taking his recovery from surgery slowly and that he has yet to begin rehabbing. Lockette had surgery on Nov. 2, a day after sustaining ligament and disc damage in his neck when he was hit while covering a punt in Seattle’s win over Dallas.

Lockette said he wears a neck brace at almost all times as a precaution.

The rehab phase of Lockette’s recovery would entail lifting weights and trying to regain strength in his neck, but he said doctors have told him to focus more on his comfort right now and that he had no indication of when he’ll begin to rehab. Given that uncertainty, there would seem to be no guarantees about his football future, but Lockette said he still plans on being ready for next season.

Lockette said he is remaining in the Seattle area while he continues to recover, saying that he considers this his home.
