Brock Huard spent some time during the Blue 42 segment of Brock and Salk’s Thursday show picking out the pleasant surprises in Seahawks training camp, as well as the disappointments.

Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett: New OC allowing him ‘to be more creative’

You can hear the full segment starting around the 36-minute mark in this podcast. Here’s a look at what Huard had to say.

Pleasant surprises

Rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin: “He really has been more than just a story. He’s been a phenomenal player that is I think gaining more and more trust in the program.”

Nickel cornerback Justin Coleman: “If you want to talk about paying people and who’s deserving of a deal and who’s that bridge guy into the next core of players, I think Justin Coleman’s had an excellent camp.”

Left tackle Duane Brown: “I love Duane Brown and the way that he’s working every single day.”

Also mentioned: Wide receivers Damore’ea Stringfellow and Brandon Marshall.

Disappointments

• Defensive end Dion Jordan (leg) and tight end Ed Dickson (quad), who have both sat out camp due to injury. “With Dion, you kinda knew that this is the track record in the past – he just has such a hard time ever practicing. That’s not the case for Ed Dickson. That guy’s been in the league a long time, he has posted for the majority of his career. To have a soft-tissue injury that occurred somewhere after the OTAs and into training camp that has knocked him out for the entirety of it – especially with Will Dissly and Nick Vannett and guys that could really utilize him on the field, this offense for that matter – that’s been a bit of a disappointment and a bummer.”
