The Sounders will honor a Seattle legend for an important anniversary during the 2023 MLS season.
The club revealed “The Bruce Lee Kit” on Wednesday, which is centered around a red, black and yellow jersey that features several nods to the movie and martial arts star. It’s all to celebrate the life of Lee – who moved to Seattle in 1959, where he attended the University of Washington, opened his first two martial arts studios and met his wife Linda Lee – on the 50th anniversary of his death and final film, “Enter The Dragon.” He was buried at Lake View Cemetery on Capitol Hill in 1973, which continues to be an tourist destination for his fans to this day.

According to the Sounders, the kit “honors his philosophies and values, which are shared by our club and our city.”
The Sounders will donate $50,000 of jersey sale proceeds to the Bruce Lee Foundation and Wing Luke Museum in Seattle “to collaborate on impactful investments and programming.”
This is the second time the Sounders have honored a legendary entertainer from Seattle in this fashion. In 2021 and 2022, they periodically donned “The Jimi Hendrix Kit,” which featured a nod to the Seattle native and revolutionary musician’s classic “Purple Haze.”
