Mariners Breakdown: Surging Haniger, elite rotation, Julio gets paid

Weekends in August don’t get much bigger than the one the Mariners just enjoyed at T-Mobile Park.
Haniger has been “remarkable” – will it lead to return with Mariners in 2023?
A lot happened. Ichiro Suzuki went into the Mariners Hall of Fame and was celebrated all weekend long. Budding superstar Julio Rodríguez was signed to a massive contract extension with an incredibly interesting construction. And, oh right, the M’s played pretty well on the field, winning three of four over the American League Central-leading Cleveland Guardians in front of packed crowds at their home ballpark.
That makes for a pretty breezy and entertaining conversation with Seattle Sports’ Bob Stelton in our latest Mariners breakdown video, which you can watch in the video at the top of this post.
This week on Bob’s Baseball Breakdown, the Wyman and Bob host shares his thoughts on:
• The elite top of the starting rotation the Mariners suddenly have with Luis Castillo and Robbie Ray
• How impressive Mitch Haniger has been since returning from the injured list at the beginning of the month
• The message that the deal with Rodríguez sends
• What it was like to be a Mariners fan over the weekend
