Peralta, 40, had a strong start to the year after joining Seattle late in spring training, but his ERA ballooned to 5.40 after giving up at least one run in six of his last 10 outings. His last appearance was in Wednesday’s loss to the Padres in which he gave up three runs in 1 1/3 innings. Peralta has played for seven teams over a 12-year MLB career.

Martin, 26, was claimed by the Mariners off waivers from Oakland in the offseason. He has a 5.67 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched over 12 games. He’s been strong over his last five appearances, including one start, going 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings. A Gonzaga product, he has MLB experience with both the A’s and Atlanta Braves.
