The Seahawks announced on Saturday they had released tight end Kellen Winslow. Acquired this offseason for a conditional draft pick in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Winslow was slated to receive a $3.3 million base salary in 2012.

To replace Winslow on the active roster, the team has signed tight end Evan Moore. Moore was originally acquired by New Orleans as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2008. After some time with the Green Bay Packers, Moore was added to the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad and promoted to the active roster in 2009. For Cleveland, Moore started eight of 33 game played, logging 62 receptions for 804 yards and five touchdowns.

On Monday, the team also announced the eight-man practice squad: LB Allen Bradford, T/DT Edawn Coughman, G Rishaw Johnson, WR Jermaine Kearse, WR Ricardo Lockette, QB Josh Portis, S DeShawn Shead and LB Korey Toomer. All eight players had been with the Seahawks throughout training camp.

Tight end Sean McGrath, originally reported to have been named to the practice squad, was absent from the list on the formal announcement.

The Seahawks practice Monday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
