The Seahawks were the talk of the sports world Saturday afternoon after the team confirmed that All-Pro safety Jamal Adams was coming to Seattle along with a future draft pick in exchange for Bradley McDougald, two first-round picks and a third-round pick.
Seahawks acquire All-Pro safety Jamal Adams from Jets for McDougald, picks
The trade was announced first by multiple reporters across the league, but the Seahawks announced the acquisition pretty quickly, posting multiple times on social media about Adams and also putting a story on their website.
So, what do we here at 710 ESPN Seattle have to say about the deal, which pairs Adams with safety Quandre Diggs in the back end of the Seahawks defense? The voices of 710 were out in full force on Twitter after the trade was announced, and we pulled some of the thoughts from our hosts and producers.

Like it or not #Seahawks clearly identifying the window is NOW

Tom Wassell – Tom, Jake and Stacy
Part of me wonders why the Seahawks had to give up so much. The Jets options seemed pretty limited, given that the player had complained publicly about wanting out. The buying team should have had more leverage.

I guess I like having Adams, but I don't like the deal. They paid about as high a price as you could for a safety – to a team that NEEDED to unload him. You might even say they overpaid.
You might.

Also, it's one thing to trade late-1st round picks when you know that's where you're picking.
How does anyone know that they won't go 7-9 this year and 8-8 the next? We don't know what these picks are gonna be worth.

Danny O’Neil – Danny and Gallant
This is the first time I’ve detected the distinct whiff of desperation in a #Seahawks move.
— Danny O'Neil (@dannyoneil) July 25, 2020
On the plus side, the #Seahawks finally addressed their pass rush. Jamal Adams had more sacks than anyone on Seattle’s roster last season.
— Danny O'Neil (@dannyoneil) July 25, 2020
Sure. If Adams helps Seattle become an average, maybe even slightly above-average defense this year you could argue it's worth it. https://t.co/UWfYFvriYk

My goodness
The Hawks are a team that has taken pride in drafting & developing & just mortgaged the farm in draft capital. Latgely b/c Tedric, Lano & others didn’t develop the Hawks are forced to make this move.
I know Pete loves safeties but DL a much more pressing need
— Brock Huard (@BrockHuard) July 25, 2020
I may not like the deal, that doesn’t mean I don’t like the player. Adams was one of my favorites coming out of LSU & has a hunger & love for ball that will be incredible for the youngsters. Combo Kam & Earl.
Vs Rams, Cards & Niners you have to cover & crush underneath routes

Paul Gallant – Danny and Gallant
2 first round picks for a safety??? (And I love safeties) https://t.co/nv1vvgGOWR
— Paul Gallant (@GallantSays) July 25, 2020
If you’re going all in you may as well pay Clowney
— Paul Gallant (@GallantSays) July 25, 2020
It’s repetitive, no?
Isn’t Adams – a thumper – an absolutely best case scenario Blair?
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a very good to great player. But maybe this is another reflection of what seemed to be reservations with putting Blair on the field last year. https://t.co/E69sLPelbe

I guess @jtheaps9 was right!!
Hawks give up a lot but I like it. https://t.co/OGbL1tTqm0

Gotta sign Clowney and/or Snacks hi go with this. Go for it now!

Jake Heaps – Tom, Jake and Stacy
BOOM!!! Big time move that brings legit superstar talent to the #Seahawks defense. https://t.co/UV2qIRgFVn

“The Seahawks gave up too much”
Really?? Do you think like the Seahawks have been drafting Jamal Adams type of players over the last 5 years? The answer is flat no. I’m more than happy to see this deal made. PROVEN ALL-PRO!

Curtis Rogers – John Clayton on 710 ESPN Seattle producer
On some real levels, I don’t mind Seattle giving up first rounders next year or the year after based off of their recent draft track record. Also, McDougald wasn’t going to be with the Seahawks beyond 2020 anyways. Great trade.
— Curtis Rogers (@AKidFromKent) July 25, 2020
Shaquill Griffin
Quandre Diggs
Jamal Adams
Maybe Quinton Dunbar?Sign me up

Stacy Rost – Tom, Jake and Stacy
Maybe the biggest Seahawks trade I can think of under Schneider in terms of what they’re giving up. Two first rounders and then some. https://t.co/fX2naUbJzw
— Stacy Jo Rost (@StacyRost) July 25, 2020
I mean… you wanted them to be bold.
— Stacy Jo Rost (@StacyRost) July 25, 2020
This is a great question and one I don't think we don't know the answer to yet. The Seahawks gave up a ton in this trade, but there's a little bit of a risk assumed for all teams if the college football season is postponed, cancelled, or abbreviated. https://t.co/qgJSSiohkX

Maura Dooley – Bob, Dave and Moore producer
Huge move by the Seahawks! This secondary should be one of the best in the league. https://t.co/ReMqq0IjEC

John Clayton – John Clayton on 710 ESPN Seattle
Sure the Seahawks gave up a boatload of picks for Jamal Adams but they landed a great defensive player. Now they have one of the most talented secondaries in football
