The Seahawks announced Monday afternoon that they have restructured the top of their front office, with Chuck Arnold replacing Peter McLoughlin as team president.

Seahawks news and analysis

McLoughlin will be leaving the organization by mutual agreement, according to the Seahawks. During a press conference Monday afternoon, a team representative said McLoughlin’s contract was up and was not being renewed.

McLoughlin was also CEO of Vulcan Sports & Entertainment, a position that will now be filled by Portland Trail Blazers CEO Chris McGowan.

Arnold, who has been with the Seahawks for 25 years, has been promoted from his previous role as COO. He will manage the Seahawks’ business operations as president and also serve as president of First & Goal Inc., overseeing management of CenturyLink Field, CenturyLink Field Event Center, First & Goal Hospitality and WaMu Theater.

“I have tremendous appreciation for this franchise and city, and I can’t wait to lead an organization that continues to make our community and the 12s proud,” Arnold said in a press release. “I am honored to assume this responsibility and thankful to Paul Allen for the opportunity.”

McGowan will retain his current responsibilities as president and CEO of the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter.

According to its website, Vulcan Sports & Entertainment “is the engine behind philanthropist and Microsoft cofounder Paul G. Allen’s network of organizations and initiatives.” Allen owns both the Seahawks and Trail Blazers.

McLoughlin was named president of the Seattle Seahawks and First & Goal, Inc. on Sept. 23, 2010. He was named the 2018 Executive of the Year by Seattle Business Magazine. Prior to his time with the Seahawks, he was CEO of the St. Louis Blues from 2006 to 2010 and had several executive roles at Anheuser-Busch, including vice president of corporate media from 1998 to 2006.

“I am grateful to Peter for his contributions over the past eight seasons,” said Paul Allen. “We have strengthened our organization and achieved success under his leadership. We wish Peter the best as he moves forward.”

Said McLoughlin: “Our time in Seattle has been an incredible experience for both me and my wife Kelly, including two consecutive trips to the Super Bowl. I’m proud of what the organization has accomplished both on and off the field over the last eight year. I would like to thank Paul Allen, Pete Carroll, John Schneider, the Seahawks coaches and staff, our corporate partners, all the players and the 12s.”
