The Mariners will turn to veteran right-hander Mike Leake to keep their momentum moving in the right direction in their return home Friday night.

Dipoto: Dee Gordon has been ‘even more’ than Mariners hoped for

Leake, who is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in two starts this season, will be on the mound for the Mariners’ series opener against the Oakland Athletics at 7:10 p.m. on 710 ESPN Seattle. The M’s are coming off a 4-3 road trip.

The Mariners will have Daniel Vogelbach hitting sixth as the designated hitter, Mike Marjama at catcher, Ichiro Suzuki in left field, and Andrew Romine playing first base and hitting ninth.

Oakland will go with Andrew Triggs (1-0, 2.53 ERA) as its starting pitcher.

Coverage begins on 710 ESPN Seattle with the pregame show at 6 p.m.
