The Mariners moved to 6-2 in Cactus League Play on Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies, a win highlighted by one of the more hard-hit home runs you’ll ever see off the bat of Mike Zunino.
The strong Seattle catcher got a hold of a Jon Gray pitch in the top of the second inning, sending it on a line to the berm past left-center field. According to Statcast, the home run traveled 421 feet with an exit speed of 112 mph and low launch angle of just 20 degrees.

The Mariners had a defensive gem on Saturday, too, with shortstop Jean Segura and first baseman Daniel Vogelbach teaming up to complete a groundout by former Mariner Chris Denorfia. Segura’s ability to range into the hole and make a long throw was impressive, but so was Vogelbach’s backhand off a bounce to catch the throw.

Not to be forgotten, Yovani Gallardo had a nice second outing of the spring on the mound, throwing three scoreless innings with just one hit and three strikeouts.
Seattle is back at it Sunday, with Felix Hernandez making his second start of the spring – and last before joining Team Venezuela for the World Baseball Classic – at 12:05 p.m. against the Los Angeles Dodgers on 710 ESPN Seattle.
