Watch: MLS Cup MVP Stefan Frei saves Sounders in extra time

One look at the video above, and it’s easy to see why Stefan Frei was named the MVP in the Seattle Sounders’ MLS Cup championship victory.

Frei’s otherworldly one-handed save in the second extra time period was the play of the game, and it kept Toronto FC scoreless, allowing the Sounders to force a shootout in which Roman Torres scored the deciding tally in sudden death.

Frei made seven saves to lead Seattle to its first MLS Cup title, a fact made all the more sweet considering Toronto is the team that traded him to the Sounders for a SuperDraft pick three years ago – to the day.
