Seahawks coach Pete Carroll tells KIRO Radio 97.3 FM that running back Thomas Rawls’ status for Sunday’s game against San Francisco is uncertain due to the leg injury he sustained last week.
On Wednesday, Carroll described the injury as a strain in a muscle around Rawls’ shin but said it looked as though it wouldn’t keep him out Sunday. The Seahawks listed Rawls as having not practiced Wednesday or Thursday because of that injury.
“He wasn’t able to practice Wednesday, Thursday, so we’re just hoping by the weekend he’ll have a chance to play,” Carroll said during his weekly conversation with Dori Monson. “We won’t know until then.”
Carroll is scheduled to speak with the media at-large following the team’s Friday afternoon practice.
If Rawls is unable to play, and perhaps even if he is, Christine Michael would start at running back. Michael has been the more productive of the two over the first two games, rushing for 126 yards on 25 carries for an average of just over 5 yards per attempt. Rawls has gained only 25 yards on his 19 carries (1.3 average).
