RENTON – Here’s good news for a Seahawks offense that could really use some amid all the concerns about its poor start to the season: Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett and Thomas Rawls appear to be on track to play Sunday against San Francisco despite injuries they sustained in Seattle’s loss to the Rams.
Coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that all three took part in the morning walk-through. Baldwin and Lockett were later listed as limited participants in the afternoon’s practice while Rawls sat out as he deals with what Carroll described earlier as a strain in a muscle around his shin.
Carroll called Baldwin’s injury a “little knee twist,” saying tests revealed no significant damage and that “he thinks he’s going to be fine.” Lockett also hurt his knee against Los Angeles but returned to the game, and Carroll said he plans on playing against San Francisco.
So, as it stands now, the Seahawks’ starting running back and their two leading receivers should all be available Sunday?
“Yes, think so,” Carroll said.
Quarterback Russell Wilson was listed as a full participant Wednesday as he was all last week despite the high-ankle sprain he sustained in the opener. Running back C.J. Prosise was also a full participant. He was inactive Sunday due to a hand injury that he sustained in the opener, which has forced him to wear a cast.
In addition to Baldwin and Lockett, tight end Jimmy Graham (knee) and defensive end Cliff Avril (hamstring) were listed as limited Wednesday. Carroll said earlier in the day that Graham was fine after playing 53 plays Sunday, which was a significant increase in his workload from the opener.
Right guard Germain Ifedi is still out with a high-ankle sprain that he sustained four days before the opener. Carroll said again that Ifedi is getting closer to returning but didn’t sound like he’s counting on it happening this week.
“He’s closer now,” Carroll said. “He’s going to do some stuff today and tomorrow and see what happens by Friday. See if he can get out there and practice. We’ll find out in a couple days.”
Carroll said tight end Nick Vannett, who has been out since Seattle’ second preseason game with a high-ankle sprain of his own, is “in the same boat” as Ifedi. Neither practiced Wednesday.
