The Seahawks will apparently have their preseason games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Minnesota Vikings scrapped, as ProFootballTalk.com’s Mike Florio reports the NFL will cut down the usual four-week preseason to just two games per team.

Clayton: Clowney’s options may end up being Seahawks or sitting out

Week 1 and Week 4 of the preseason will be canceled, according to Florio, leaving the two weeks in between intact. Some changes will need to be made, however, as the NFL will assure each team has one home and one away game in the preseason, per a following ProFootballTalk.com report.

According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, however, the NFL Players Association hasn’t yet agreed to the change to the preseason and there actually could be a push for the league to forego the entire preseason.

That’s not the only adjustment being made to the 2020 league calendar. According to a separate report by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, teams have been informed that the annual NFL Supplemental Draft will not be held. The event usually happens in July.

With the preseason cut in half, the Seahawks would be left with a 5 p.m. game in Houston against the Texans on Saturday, Aug. 22 as their opener, followed by a home game vs. the Los Angeles Chargers at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27. See the original Seahawks preseason schedule at this link.

Seattle was set to be the first team to play against the Raiders since they officially changed their home from Oakland to Las Vegas, but it appears that distinction will now belong to their former neighbors from across the bay, the San Francisco 49ers, on Aug. 21.
